Joe and Christen Byker (Joe is the son of our former pastor, Don Byker) traveled from
their home in the Dominican Republic to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with their
newborn Daughter, Hannah. Hannah's genetic testing came back confirming that she
has GDH-HI or HI/HA Syndrome (Hyperinsulinism/Hyperammonaemia). Fortunately, her
condition is responsive to an oral medication called Diazoxide. This means that she will
not need surgery, however, she will require close monitoring and will likely be on Diazox-
ide for her entire life. Hannah was released from the hospital and is doing well, but they
will remain in the Philadelphia area for follow up care. Please keep them all in your
prayers, and you can follow their story at www.caringbridge.org/visit/hannahbyker.
